This is a recipe fot Tablet which is nicer than fudge.

2lbs Sugar
1.5 cups Milk (British Measure 6 fluid oz per cupfull=3/4 cup in US. I think!)
1 oz. Butter
Flavouring

Grease tin 9ins. x 7ins.Depending on how thick you want the tablet.

Warm the milk and sugar very slowly in a heavy bottomed pan until the sugar dissolves.
Turn heat up a little and when mixture boils add the butter.
Boil for 15 minutes then remove from heat, add flavouring(2 tsp.vanilla essence) and whisk until creamy and thick.
Pour into tin and mark into squares, leave to set.
Hope this one will be okay, will look for more recipes for fudge for you.

Hi Elly:
About 15 years ago my husband made tablet and sold it to some of the stores here in Canada, Scottish bake shops, etc. Very sweet..I think he used condensed milk in his recipe..interesting to see this recipe again. Cheers....

Hi Thistle46

My dad used to make his tablet with condensed milk too, but I cannot ask him for the recipe for you as he is on holiday in Scotland just now, when he comes back I will get it for you.
He put all different flavourings in his and they are really delicious.
Will get back to you with the recipe as soon as possible.

Talking Taiblet not Tablet

My dad informed me that I had spelt it wrong, but never mind it still tastes the same. This recipe is the one with condensed milk.

7 oz Condensed Milk 2 lbs Sugar
1 tablespoon Butter 1 cup Milk

Place all ingredients in heavy bottomed pan and slowly bring to the boil stirring occasionally.

Boil for a few minutes.

Test consistency by dropping a little into cold water(I used a saucer for this), when on testing, the mixture has become like a soft putty, remove the pan from the heat and then beat the mixture with a wooden spoon until the mixture begins to solidify around the edges.
Pour into a buttered tin and mark into squares.

Leave to go cold, then break into the squares.

These can be added if you want to be a little different:

4 oz. coconut
2 oz. chopped walnuts
1 tsp vanilla
4 oz chopped crystallised ginger

Tried doing Whisky flavour but 1 tsp. is not enough.

Enjoy
