No, I think it is worse in the US also (kind of why I asked the questions in the first place) but it's all in degrees. I'm not an expert on such differences so I wouldn't like to comment beyond that. Things are getting better but the government and the industries together manage to cover up so much information that I don't often trust much of what I hear.

Cool

Hi Jells,
Organic food is very easy to come by in most Californian cities. Besides specialty stores such as Trader Joes, many mainstream supermarkets carry organic foods since the demand for the products is evident. I live north of San Diego where many smaller cities in the north county have weekly farmer's markets that consumers support wholeheartedly.

It is fairly easy to find eggs, (or meat), from free roaming chickens as opposed to buying goods from the huge factory farms. Beef is a little more difficult to find and to tell you the truth I boycott veal completely due to the anemic, force fed, hormone induced policies of the factory farming of these young animals. My brother is a hunter and claims that he has one of the best opportunities for a purer meat source, (for those who don't mind eating ram, venison, or elk). I could never shoot these animals but my brother contends that at least he is limited to shooting mature males who roamed free as opposed to being "jailed" since birth.

When we were in Islay, almost everything we ate was organic... the lamb and beef were incredible and had flavour i didnt know meat could/should have! But the veg, grown in my in-law's garden, just tasted normal. I was a bit disappointed in that... thought it would have some special flavour like the meat did.

Wonder if that treacle tart i bought from the bakery was organic? Naaaahhh. Doubt it!Tasted pure brutal, though!
