Talking Isle of Bute local produce

Hi guys, I've been to Bute a few times back and forth but never considered buying locally sourced produce until now (usually just visit the pub!). I saw this though and thought maybe it'd be a good idea, only thing is... is it really that common? Can you walk up to a fisherman and say "I'd like to buy some fish?" Easy as?
