What is a bridie pie? My favorite pie is mincemeat, apples and raisons(although long time ago made with meat). Mince is hamburger with vegatables and boiled potatoes right?

I BELIEVE the origin of the word 'Bridie' is from the term 'Abrode' - broadly, i.e. flat. Thus we have 'A Brode Pie', a flat pie, later shortend to 'Brodie' and then 'Bridie'.

Some pie I've had, the best part was the pastry. 'Course, the opposite can be true, too!

And Lil, my mother in law makes the absolute best mince meat pie, no fake stuff like apples and raisens, it IS the real thing. I couldn't stand 'mince' pie, the fake stuff, then she made a real one for a hoiliday and to not hurt her feelings, I tasted it. WOW! Of the pie that she makes, her mince is my favorite, it's even better than her pumpkin. She uses game meat; elk, deer and antelpoe in it and cans enough to last for several pies.
