Its commonly known that Scottish and Canadian whisky has no e (neither do the names of the countries) while whiskey from Ireland and America does

Suntory, Segrams & several other international concerns now own a good number of Scottish distilleries between them. Indeed, the number of distilleries now under the control of multinationals & quartered in London for revinue purposes makes the Scottish whisky industry seem very small.

Personally, I've never gone much on Japanese or Canadian whisky, although Seagrams was enjoyable enough IIRC. Edradour, Glenturret, Royal Lochnagar & Dalmore are probably my favourite malts. Mostly, I stick to the real drink of the Scot - French brandy.
