The first site in your list is very specific on the subject:

Quote:
Scotch means simply that the whisky was distilled and matured in Scotland. Whiskies are made in other countries, notably Ireland and Japan but whiskies they may be, and good ones even, but Scotch they are not. Scotch comes from Scotland.
At no time does it use the term Scots - the only place I saw that word used was to describe the people, not the drink!

(Now that I have replied to this I notice you have edited your post removing all mention of Scots... I guess you must have re-read it all!)

A very nice Canadian single malt:

Much like the Speyside malts - I prefer Islay - but it is very pleasant (although quite pricey).

Canadian Club is Rye Whisky (made by Hiram Walker - no relation to Johnny, as far as I know) - very different from Scotch. It is considered to be one of the better Rye's. I prefer Crown Royal (Seagrams). Some other popular Canadian whiskies are ; Silk Tassel, Black Velvet, Alberta Premium and Seagram's VO. Canadian Whisky (which is called just "Rye" here) is very popular here - and seems to have replaced Rum as the drink of choice. It is usually served in mixed cocktails - and simple ones like Rye and cola, or Rye and ginger ale seem to be the most popular.

So with me being a malt drinker (tho I do admit to having the occasional blend) what would Rye and more Rye be like?
