The other thing is that i keep a wee jar of peanut butter and a supply of plastic spoons in my desk drawer, and if i get peckish during the day, i take out the jar and eat a couple of spoonfuls. The looks i get!! But hey... it's a good source of protein, and it's quick and easy... and it tastes nice!
hahahha... i remember one time in grade school a science teacher made me calculate how far a pidgeon could fly on a tablespoon of peanut butter. I should have asked, African or European?

And didn't seaweed used to be part of the diet? I guess it's finally making a resurgence with sushi in Nori wraps!

Seaweed soup is still popular in some parts of Scotland and the Welsh make a type of bread called Lava bread that contains seaweed,so while its use is not as widespread as it was there are still some traditional recipes that use it.

Who's had plantains? (they are like a banana but harder and must be cooked before eating).

I had them in Oaxaca, Mexico... they would take the ripe ones which are very sweet and fry them in butter with cinnamon. Unlike bananas, they hold their texture.

My housemate's family is Cuban, and they have them too but prepare them very differently.... they take them green and slice them and deep fry them in oil. They are not sweet at all and much more like a chip.

I have it on good authority that ice-cream is best made from goats milk. I think that's how they make it on the Isle of Man.

I haven't had goat's milk ice cream, but i've made ice cream before, so maybe i'll try making it. But i've had goat's milk fudge a couple of times and it is very good!!!!! It's quite creamy and soft, and unlike regular fudge it has a slight tang to it.
