HollyElise,

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is clotted cream? I've seen the term used elsewhere on this forum, but am completely baffled by it. Is it like cottage cheese? That's the only kind of image that comes to mind when I see the term "clotted cream".

Thanks!

Clotted cream is a very dense, thick cream, very yello in colour. Traditionally made in Cornwall and Devon, it is the usual accompaniment to a 'Cornish Cream tea' which usually consists of a pot of REAL tea, scones, butter, clotted cream and strawberry or raspberry jam (US call it jelly, I believe).

I shouldn't come to this thread - it just makes me hungry. Jam - at least in Canada - is made with the actual fruit or berries, so there are bits of fruit, seeds etc. in it. Jelly is made from the juice of the fruit, so it has no bits of fruit or seeds.

I love hot from the oven homemade biscuits (scones to you Scots), with butter and homemade crabapple jelly, and a cup of tea.

Clotted cream is something I wish I hadn't discovered, mmmmmm. I belive you can buy it in North America as "Devonshire cream".

Oh, really, Sherbrooke? That's cool! Thanks for the tip. Never heard of even Devonshire cream, but will have to see where I can find it. Any ideas?

Kathy, you've made my day, sweetie.... thanks for the link, which I'll be checking out ASAP, trust me for that!
An English patient of one of the doctors at the office and I were talking this past week after her appointment about a GORGEOUS vase in the front which, she told me, was British in origin. It's got blue floral patterns against a white background. We also got to talking about some of our British origins, and I learned she is very decidedly anti-Scottish. Hoo-boy, is she ever! Yeesh! However, because I was working, I didn't want to continue discussing Scotland after her comment. Anyway, she'd promised (but forgot to) to give me an address in North Carolina where imported British goods could be purchased. So, I will definitely check it out. Scotland isn't the only branch of British ancestry for me, but also England and Ireland, as well. So, it would be kinda cool to have some home decor or souvenirs from those places.
