My understanding is that the law in Scotland is the same as in England when it comes to drinking.
In a bar or pub you must be 18 to purchase or consume an alcoholic beverage.
You can go into a bar at 16 unaccompanied and purchase a soft drink.
You can purchase a drink in a restaurant when eating a meal at the age of 16 and a parent can purchase a drink for their own child who is eating a meal and is under the age of 16. This does not apply to a bar meal in a pub.
Of course, it is all at the discretion of the landlord.
