Lets have a spirits discussion! It's been a while since we've done so and there are many new posters.

What do you like?

Where is the best wine? Whisky? Beer?

Personally, I like Soft Chenen Blanc.... I know it's not much but it's good! I like sweet wines and if they are white, even better! I had some really good CB in Torquay, and they gave a nice big dose of it! Even better! LOL

I also had some pretty tasty Welsh wine once at a dinner at Ruthin Castle. It must have had ginger in it as it had that tang to it. I never could find out what it was called.

I like to cook with beer and whisky but don't really have a taste for the drink. Both make excellent bread.

Personally, I don't drink much whisky - I'm more a wine or ginandtonic sort of person... My husband likes good malts, Bowmore, The MacAllan, Strathisla and Highland Park are amongst his favourites.

Has anyone ever heard of a Fuzzy Navel? It's pretty good. Orange juice, peach schnapps and cream. Served with crushed ice, very tasty summertime drink.

Each to their own!

Oregon is growing some pretty good wine grapes as well as making nice wines out of other fruits. There is an orchard I receintly read of that actually places a pear bud in a wine bottle while the bud is just beginning to grow on the branch. It developes in the bottle and when mature, the bottle with the pear in it is 'picked', filled with brandy and allowed to age. I guess it's pretty yummy, it's also pretty spendy!
