Comfort in middle-America

Mashed potatoes and cream gravy
Biscuits and sausage gravy
Home-made macaroni and cheese
Chocolate chip cookies so fresh the chips are still too hot!
Fresh baked bread with real butter and home-made jam

Hmmmm...not much color, flavor, or texture = comfort? Yep!

- Ice cream (especially sundaes and banana long boats)
- Donuts
- UK crisps - especially worcester sauce french fries
- Chips (the chipshop kind) with a buttered roll and lots of HP sauce with a big mug of tea
- more donuts
- banana sandwiches using scottish plain bread
- cadburys fruit and nut chocolate (with a nice cup of coffee) or a flake/boost/starbar/..any chocolate actually except turkish delight
- Did I say ice cream and donuts?
- butterscotch angel delight
- chicken korma with a big nan bread

I live in the US now so I have to do without most of these comfort foods , I am going back for a family visit in December though so I am going to competely pig out

My sister lives in Australia, and I've visited her on a number of occasions. She has always said that it is almost impossible to get a good Indian meal in Aus - and I have to say, based on my experiences in various Oz cities - I think she's right......

She visits the UK and the minute she arrives her cravings for Indian food become paramount - but the thing is: we can't get her to go to any of the excellent French, Italian, Greek, Thai (ours are nowhere near as good as the Thai food in Aus, IMHO) restaurants..... it's the local Indian every time!

She adores my mince n tatties, soups (lentil and scotch broth are her faves), puddings etc.... but for a meal out.... a good Indian meal is her ideal.

I still think it is funny that her dreams of home centre on getting a good curry and other Indian dishes!

yep I do crave my Korma, there arent any indian restaurants where we are unfortunately..So when me and hubbie (american, never had indian food) return home, we will be making a visit to one of the yummy indian places in Stirling a top priority..oh and what do they call the icecream they have in indian restaurants? that stuff is amazing..Im sure it begins with a "K"..and it was green thats all I remember...

Korma is too mild for me - and my sister's preference is for curried dishes of all kinds that would blow your head off.... the hotter the better.

I think you mean Kulfi.... it's usually flavoured with cardamom and sometimes with pistachio.
