Try these

SCONES

2 C. sifted flour
1/2 C. sugar
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 C. shortening
1/2 C. raisins
2 eggs, beaten slightly
1/4 C. milk

Sift dry ingredients together. Blend in shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles fine bread crumbs. Add remaining ingredients; mix with fork, flatten in 1/2 inch thick circles, cut in triangles, Put on greased, floured baking sheet. Bake in hot oven, 400 degrees for 15 minutes, or until golden.

These bake really well on stoneware baking sheets, then you can eliminate the greased and floured baking sheet. A little oil on your stoneware is all you need.

If you eat them with clotted cream they are even better!

Enjoy!

Are those the traditional Scottish scones? or more the Cornish ones? Sound more like the latter.

Anyway...

why not trying the deep fried mars bars?

Right out of a Traditional Scottish Foods recipe book which I got in Inverness.

I guess we could say they are Celtic in nature?

Scones are much better if you leave the milk to turn skightly sour, just when it starts to clot before it sepatates is best.

Btw Kathy I love your dancing Calvin and Hobes
