Texasgirl...come to PR yourself and see just how wealthy PR is..and, may I say, thanks to the mighty USofA and Munoz Marin. Puerto Rico is the most affluent island, in the Caribbean, and she doesn`t have Natural Resources. Just ask Gicco a native of PR..

Let us return to the main thread....PR coffee....I can just savour the smell of the coffee beans being grinded.... now...off for a cup of PR coffee.
Texasmujer,

Arjean is a fool. I must say it. She is not interested in really dealing with Puerto Ricans as a native Puerto Rican, she is there for the dollars and is willing to sell her soul for a dollar as a businesswoman. Lol. If the USA comes looking for us Texasmujer and have our men spill blood for the USA, they (people like Arjean) have no right to dictate to any Puerto Rican where they should reside. They have no right to comment in general. The Puerto Ricans have a median annual income of approximately $16k and the average one bedroom apartment in San Juan is about 110k. That is not affordable. We make almost half of what a USA state makes in income and have almost triple of the unemployment and no political voice with a valid vote in congress yet she has the gall to say how we should be grateful for what we got. Why? Cuz the mighty USA should have the final say so on what happens to us. Our opinion is crap. That is the definition of colonialism and it is fundamentally wrong in every way. If she thinks it is right, then she is another person that believes might is right and rich countries have the duty to dictate to the poor ones and the poor ones have no right to anything due to their subordinate postition. And she is a class conscious woman with values that I find repugnant in general. I don't hate people or 'nations', I love people, I don't approve of dirty deals corrupt gov'ts and corporations come up with to benefit an exclusive group of people who don't give a damn about anything but themselves only. I have no respect for people who think like that. Might as well joing the Mafia. The gun and naked power plays is the only rule that is respected in that culture.

Arjean doesn't like articulate Puerto Ricans. She feels only people of means should be typing away on the internet. As the class conscious snob she is. Lol. Puerto Rico is wealthy she says. Yep that is why the unemployment rate hovers at 12% because it is a wealthy place. Well if you want a place with millions and billions invested by private companies with tax benefits and military installations to be preserved you can't have disgruntled poverty stricken natives spoiling things for you can you now?

Arjean is foolish. If she cared a fig about Puerto Rico and its culture she wouldn't be such a sellout for the USA (and not even being from there). Lol.

Take care Texas. Puerto Rican natively grown coffee is highly coveted. Alto Grande by the Garriga brothers is one of the Best. Enjoy Texas.

Oh, I will (enjoy the Puerto Rican coffee). Aii! I DON'T like to see disharmony...I just don't! Puerto Rico is a BEAUTIFUL island...with the problems that are typical of an island culture...I'm NOT pointing fingers...some people see only what major advertisers want them to see; que lastima!! There is SO MUCH more!! Yes, there is poverty...but, do you ALSO see the proud people who will literally "give you the shirt off their back"...if you need it?! Do you see the relatives who cry "Aiii que lindo!" when they see a relative for the first time (or, the 60th time?! It doesn't matter)Or, do you see the complete stranger who, knowing YOU are the stranger in town and know no one, but invites you on the main tour trip anyway...then sticks around to make sure you are included? These are
the Puerto RIcans. I can't even begin to mention the men
who fight in 'our'(the American) army--they are fierce! Arjean, in every column here at Scotland.com, the 'conversations'(that's how I think of them) move/drift from topic to topic, meandering around a common theme! This thread IS about Puerto RIcan coffee, with some of the history of Puerto RIco thrown in...think of it as a liberal arts education!! I want to say this, too Arjean...I did not mean to be insulting...there really are many opinions...I LOVE Scotland.com because it does seem to have such a diverse mixxture of diverse outlooks...to me, this is LIFE! Live and let live, I say. Now, if we could all just sit down for a cup...

Texasmujer..please,rephrase your questions, if they were questions. Re-read your post and get back to me. Again, it`s Y`all not Ya`ll. For someone who comes from Texas, you`re lacking in the Southern spelling of it`s patter. Again, for your information..most coffee, if not all, in PR, is made from Brazilian and Columbian coffee beans..even my favorite Cafe Rico.....Remember, Texasmujer, the Golden Mile is in Hato Rey...not from the Condado to Isla Verde. Naw, coffee beans are not grown in those areas. Texas mujer, don`t ever try to make points, at my expense, then seek pentinence....you and your serf strayed from the original topic, which was on coffee. Being as I live part of the year, in PR, I am well aware of the people and the island. I probably know more, than both of you, on the subject of PR.

PR Girl....you are ONE BIG/small minded PHONY! By the way, whatever happened to PR Patriot? Haha. Go back to PR and start a coffee farm....Your Country Needs You! Naw, forget it, stay where you are...in the good ole USofA., and drink all the Maxwell House coffee that you can afford. I will check with the Garriga family that I know, in PR, about "their" coffee farm! You see PRGIRL..I know almost all the elite of PR, the Garrigas that I know belong in that category..not bragging, it`s just a fact! I have also been in the company of two prominent Puerto Rico PIPs..Berrios and Martin...both extremely intelligent and I doubt if they would blame the USA for the distruction of the Coffee farms and sugar cane....they both were educated in Elitist universities in the US..check it out prgirl. As a matter of fact, Berrios, blond hair, blue eyes was always thought to be an American by neoricans......

Off to PR tomorrow.....Love spending Xmas there! I will find out, once and for all, where the coffee beans come from. Maybe, if I get a chance, I`ll visit Gicco`s coffee farm and the Garrigas`.....

I MUST say this is beyond ridiculous, Arjean 40. My family (in Puerto Rico) tells me the "Gold Mile" is in one location; you---a non-native, say it's somewhere else...Now, tell me, who would YOU believe? I know who I will ...Now, this post is/was about coffee...and, you are arguing? Is this your sport? There are much better ways of using a person's time than to spread silly, petty insults...It's always been amazing---what do people gain by this behavior? Not much, in my book! Adios ahora! PRgirl, your thoughts and ideas are righteous and just. I LOVE my country, but, I know it's not perfect. Plus, I love Puerto Rico; I can see where the island has changed as -a result of the increased population, and 'modernization' (which, I think is ruining the island---it makes me sad!) Please, amiga...don't let other peoples' opinions give you pause...remember, they are JUST opinions, and, of themselves, have absolutely NO POWER other than what you give them! (you can decide to laugh, or, in turn, get angry, which will raise your blood pressure, and release all those negative chemicals into YOUR
bloodstream...now, the choice is yours...please, choose good
health!)For goodness sake...this is the Holiday Season...AND
the internet...and someone want to ARGUE? About SPELLING
"YA'LL"? PLEASE...this really IS...FUNNY. See you later...ya'll LOL and Merry Christmas

Some additional thoughts...After doing some investigating...Arjean40, YOU ARE correct---there is an area of Puerto Rico called "The Gold Mile"...and it DOES describe the area you referred to; however, the Gold Mile I refer to will be known by the native Puerto Rican...I, now, know of TWO "Gold Miles" in Puerto Rico...strange how the world works...now, about "ya'll"...I'll STICK to my COLLOQUIAL spelling!

If you follow all the rules, you miss all the fun.

All packed and ready to go.......

I know I was right about the Milla de Oro...if as you say, there was another, which there never has been, it would be on the southern coast....like Ponce, where they have the most beautiful beaches in the whole wide world.

Have a cuppa coffee with the serf...I would draw the line when it comes to idiots, like prgirl, 'breaking bread" with me...PR,your ancestors probably left, for the US, seeking a better life, as most PRs did! Where would PR be without the US...probably as poor as the Dominican Republic. Like I said.....you are a PHONY! And, a damned liar, to boot! Still know more than you do about PR. Get with it....the "Statehooders" have taken over both houses....soooooo get used to it! Also, newly elected Resident Commissioner to Washington, D.C. is a Statehooder...Guess what happened to Faz Alsamora(PDP.)

Imagine living in a country that is being blamed for all that is wrong in "ones" life. You, PRGIRL, are a failure because of your warped mind.....I may just get one of my friends to answer your condemnation of the US...and your utterly, stupid mindset regarding the island of PR, in Spanish and English, when I get to PR...Thank God, you are in the US....you are lost there....PR doesn`t need you...I give, you take!

Rather a wealthy "fool" than a lame excuse for a "human being" like you prgirl. Grow up and be thankful for what the US has given you......

I`m off for fun in the sun.......
