... should do include and how should it be prepared? I've been in several B&B in Scotland and also in many pubs offering morning breakfast and did found out nobody offers exactly the same taste, nor the same stuff... So, now, my question again: what should I prepare (and more specifically: HOW?) to get out a real traditional scottish breakfast? Thanks in advance!

Today's breakfast in most Scottish homes is probably cereal, toast and coffee or tea..., with porridge instead of cereal in the cold weather.
However, on about one Sunday every three months, I might be persuaded to cook an oldfashioned fry up (although I tend to grill everything apart from the eggs, it's a little bit healthier, but not much!)... eggs bacon sliced sausage tomato tattie scone (home made) Served with well-fired rolls, fresh that morning. I omit the black pudding that my father loved, as I can't stand it... Some people add baked beans to the above - or use tinned tomatoes, instead of fresh. followed by Buttered toast and marmalade Coffee or tea |

What exactly is a tattie scone?
Also, do Scots eat much chocolate cake? Stupid question, I know, but I've got my hero eating chocolate cake in the middle of the night, as a "midnight snack". Would there be a better substitute for a midnight snack? Thanks, BevoZ |

porridge is rolled oats as far as i know. it is healthy, but i can only stand it with butter and honey (not quite so healthy anymore!), or fruit and honey. when i go back im def getting a box of scotts porridge oats, for the classic package if nothing else (kilted highlander
). here in the states its easier to get mcanns irish oats, which is the same thing, except its from ireland not scotland. i think to get scotts youd have to go to a british grocer.

You can make it with oatmeal or with rolled oats, Holly, and yes, it is said to be a *very* healthy food.
