BUTTERMILK BRAN SCONES

Prep Time: 15 min
Total Time: 30 min
Makes: 12 servings

1 cup POST 100% Bran Cereal

2/3 cup buttermilk

1 cup flour

2 Tbsp. sugar

2 tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) margarine, cut up

MIX cereal and buttermilk in small bowl; let stand 5 minutes.

MIX flour, sugar, baking powder and baking soda in large bowl. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in cereal mixture just until soft dough forms.

PLACE dough on lightly floured surface; knead until smooth. Roll out to 12x4-inch rectangle. Cut into 4-inch squares; cut each square into 4 triangles. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

BAKE at 425°F for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden. Serve warm.

**Great Substitute: Substitute 1 scant tablespoon white vinegar or lemon juice plus enough milk to measure 2/3 cup for the buttermilk. Stir milk mixture and let stand 5 minutes before using.
