I've seen a number of recipes for haggis, and my first impression was, "Do people actually eat this stuff?????" It seems like haggis is one of those foods where there's really no in-between: either you love it or you hate it. My big thing is I absolutely HATE and despise organ meats. Ugh! However, last month, while my daughter Susan was visiting her dad in New York for five weeks, I went down to the Caledonian Games in Athena, Oregon, which were totally cool. Spoke to the owner of the Scottish Country Shop while there, and she said she didn't like liver or the like, either, but that she did like haggis. She said it's kind of like a meat loaf, made largely of oatmeal. Her store sells it at $8-something per pound and said it could be shipped. Another guy I talked with about haggis told me that it needs to be served with gravy or some kind of whiskey or wine or something like that, otherwise it's really dry and yucky. I told him that, if I did try it, I'd stick to the gravy! Given their testimonies about the stuff, I'm not as much against trying it some time as I was not too awfully long ago.

Is there anyone else on this forum who hates liver/organ meats, who actually likes haggis? I'd love to hear what you have to say about it.
