Here is Duncans 'our castle, located on the lochness lake ' , here is one of the replies ' Castles on "lakes" mean ' , and this is another ' you can't have a "lochness Lake" - It is simply Loch Ness, ("loch) meaning "lake"). ' and at least this person explains the point..

And here is mine ..'shores of the lake Ness ' .Now , Ness is a lake , Loch Ness yup , but a lake never the less.
So what is your problem ?
Do you make a habit of trolling threads , just to be mischievous?

If you cannot contribute to this thread about the Clan Grant , in a positive manner , why are you here ?
Are you a member of the Clan Grant ? or are you just here to stir ?

PS. to those who wish to belittle Duncan for his use of Lake instead of Loch , take it somewhere else .

Duthill - you do your own fair share of calling a spade a spade, almost to rudeness.... So, to clarify. Here in Scotland there is only ONE Lake (of Menteith) - all others are called Lochs. It would be like us going to England and saying 'I want to know all about Loch Windermere'.... It isn't the 'accepted' form...

Polwarth ,
It matters little how many bodies of water in Scotland are called Loch , and how many are called Lake. My reply was to Duncan , Duncan who has not returned , possibly because of the snotty attitude of some of the replies .
If you are so knowledgeable , why did you not help him when he was searching for his history ?
Or would you have mocked him also , for his use of lake and loch in his query ?

PS. to those who wish to belittle Duncan for his use of Lake instead of Loch , take it somewhere else .

The only people I 'mock' are eejits.... I suspect that Duncan does not fall into that category, it is merely that he does not understand the language differences between Scotland and other parts of the English-speaking world. Some of us are stout supporters of Lallans/AuldScots/Doric and it DOES matter to us that our 'differences' are acknowledged.

I know little about the Grants, so I do not presume to reply. Loch/Lake DO matter in Scotland. Have you ever been here?

Thanks.
