I'm looking for members of the Buttars family. My grandmother is a buttars and her line goes through Perthshire, Scotland. I am interested in learning more about the Buttars family history and more about the Perthshire District.

In looking in the 1999 directories for Perthshire I found 4 familiies by the name of Butter or Butters but none by the name of Buttars.
In the 1881 Census for Perthshire there were 8 families by the name of Buttars and 342 persons by the name of Butter or Butters Can you narrow down your search a bit by supplying forenames Marhar

Had a spare hour so looked up on the IGI for your Buttars and was quite amused by what I found, Your Donald Buttar born 1716 at Kirkmichael in Perthshire married on 19th December 1737 to Janet Bruce. His parents were Donald Buttar and Jean Morgan and hers were Donald Bruce and Janet MacIntosh. They had 9 children :- John 2 Feb 1739, Margaret 9 May 1738 twin child same date, Child 11 May 1736, Elizabeth 4 Sept 1748, Donald or Dee ( Your line I think) 9 Sept 1756, Janet 14 Nov 1741 Marjory 20 Nov 1740 and Margaret (again) 14 Dec 1742 You will notice that the dates do not run in order.
His number is AFN:314D-QI Looking at David Buttars was even more rewarding as there is an Accestral file for him, he was married 4 times and divorced once His number is AFN:CSGT-XQ look in http://www.familysearch.org/default.asp? I think you will like it Marhar
