och Polwarth I am getting really fed up

with this.

I am going to call it a day and start telling everyone my great uncle was King Duncan, the first King of Scotland. I think he was married to my dads first cousin or something like that.

Hello
You don't say where you are posting from, but assume it's not Scotland?

If not, you need to trace back in your country, back through your parents, their parents etc, back to the original immigrant to your country. Hopefully you may then be able to trace back to Scotland (and this may be via a number of generations in Ireland if your ancestor arrived far enough back!) - and to a specific area in Scotland. Then, with luck, you may be able to make a connection via old Parish records or the GRO records in Edinburgh.

Good luck with your research.

Did anyone know that Clan Stewart/Stuart was part of the McPhalan Clan?

No, I've certainly never heard that. I'd be interested to learn where you discovered that information.

I wonder if the name you mention might be a corruption of MacFarlane, but its not a name I've ever heard before - and the Stewarts are not part of any other clan - they are Clan(s) in their own right!

My parents had gone to Scotland a few years ago and brought back a couple of books on the clans. My mother being of Irish descent found out that she was also of Scottish descent. My information just might be wrong. Its been years since I've seen those books.
