Scottish history?
Lady, if you knew a fraction of the Scottish history you think you know, you might know SOMETHING about Scotland.
The clan system is not and never has been a Scotland-wide phenomenon. It only ever existed within the Highlands & Islands of Scotland and there is many a Scot who never did belong to a clan. Clans were basically private armies who fought for their chief and took their chief's name as a means of identifying themselves. In most cases there was no blood relationship. The same goes for your Bruce claim. As a King, Robert Bruce's family tree is well documented so, no matter how much you may wish it, you are almost certainly NOT a direct descendant of the Bruce. Tumlin clan??? It's not listed in my book of clans & tartans, but that may be an oversight by the author. You could try your luck at http://genforum.genealogy.com/tumlin/ |

yes....you are right about when u said that his family tree is well documented....that is how i know that i am a decendent!!!! the author most likely DID overlook this famliy name b/c i have-documented on paper and researched by my famliy for 50 years-my famliy tree which consists of soooo much information about my famliy that i am sure that there is a Tumlin clan....there is a ledgend in my family that there was a disagreement b/w family or clan members which may have been part of the reason for my family comming 2 america-and part of the clan was "broken off" and rebelled and started their own "clan"-what i meant by "sub-clan"!! there is a villiage located-if im not mistaken-in scotland....it may no longer be there or be called that but it did once exist-in scotland we were called "the Tumlin"....there has 2 be truth 2 what i have told you or else my famliy would have found out after 50 years of research!!!!
my regards.... |
