Join a clan ?
Born of a Clan is more like it .
We all have two parents , four grandparents , etc .
We are who we descend from .

In rare circumstances , a line of a new family is recognised by a Clan Chief as being an associated family name of that Clan .
From that point on all those of that family , past , present and future , are of that Clan.

Being of a Clan as of right , is not the same as joining a clan society , although many folk who are of the one, join the other.
