[quote=Polwarth;422753]Here's info re Clan MacDuff from the Electric Scotland site. The site always gives the proviso that they do not check the info submitted to the site, so always ensure you check info with at least 2 other sites.
Having given it a cursory look, it doesn't seem to claim Kinnamont/Cinnamond as a sept. Clan MACDUFF Another Scots site worth looking at is Rampant Scotland Directory According to Wikipedia - the Kinnimonts may have been a separate clan, but have no chief at the present time. Not all surnames are part of a clan - particularly those from the central belt or the Borders. Doesn't mean those who have the name aren't Scots, though! Clan Kinninmont - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ Oh that is such sad news. So if I'm correct we had no leader so it died out. Not to sound stupid I know nothing about this. Thank you for taking your time to look it up. I know that my distant grandfather had a large tobacco plantation here on the eastern shores shores of Maryland. In.Talbot County .He had 6 sons. From that my father is the descendant of one of these sons. Oddly enough the names Joseph , Jacob & James have stayed in my family and passed on from father to son In some form for hundreds of years. I have 3 brothers who hold these names . I cannot explain why I have such a love for Scotland and feel such a connection to it. It makes no sence to many but perfect to me. And it has been for years...lol I have a sister who died as a young Girl...her name. Was Bonnie..so many would comment that she was a Bonnie lass...and my other sister is named after my Grandmother her name is Rebecca...lol See I have been tied to it for my life even in only small ways....many laugh at me but at the same time we American while we have created a world of our own....we never wish to forget where we are from.....sorry for my mad melodramatic rambles........back on to the task at hand. I will keep looking and reading. I will also read about other clans,......are you from one? Curious to know as I know no one in Scotland it's nice to hear ones stories and such. You have also set me to check out what history you enjoy reading the enlightened years. In truth I love to read any and everything...lol Thanks Kat
