History of MacLaine of Loch Buie

My ancestry traces back to this clan which I have been told is a 'dead' clan. The last heir dying in bankruptcy after returning from WWII. I've also been told that the MacLaine clan is a related, but splintered faction of the MacLean clan.
I like history and any help with details and anecdotes would be appreciated.
William
