Usher?

Wow. I have been attempting to do a bit of research on my fiance's ancestry...and unfortunately it has been quite difficult. We both were born and live in the USA, but since his infancy, he's been thrown about through adoption, etc. He has come to find out (through records of court, etc) that he is of sottish descent and that his birth name is Usher. I tried to google it, and so many things popped up I felt like I was going to go insane. lol. Anyone there who can shed some light on a clan called Usher? After being tossed about for so long, I think this has given him hope and something to hold on to. We're both excited to learn more. Thank you!

The reason that you could not find any trace of a Clan Usher may be because there is no such clan.
There is however the House of Usher.

For House of Usher Secretary, contact Edgar Allan Poe

Usher's Beer (Edinburgh) = pretty average

so, Usher isn't scottish? Really? Hmm...well, that's strange. But I guess the people from the state can be quite...well...unintelligent. lol We're trying to find out any kind of lineage. He may be disappointed to find this out, but it doesn't mean that we can't still visit just because. After all, I plan on surprising him with a honeymoon to scotland when we get married next year. If it's even half as beautiful as the pictures, it will be worth the trip.

If you google for Scottish Usher, you'll find a heading "The Usher Family of Scotland". Open it up and you'll find all sorts of Scottish connections, including Sir John Usher, 1st Baronet of Norton and Wells. He was the famous distiller and brewer (God bless him !)
