Bell Clan

This is actually my first post here as I have just joined the forum. I recently have begun a search for my family lineage. My last name is Bell and I live in North Carolina, USA. I do not really know much about my family's past but when I was younger, my grandmother gave me a beer mug with our scottish coat of arms on it. It is black grey and red and has the three bells on the shield with a bird on top with it's wings spread. Does anyone know what clan of Bells my family might have originated from? What colors are involved in our kilts and what the colors might mean?
