The only thing I can think of is that it derives from a long-established Ocean Township, New Jersey family, whose alumni includes Ashley and Jennifer.

It may be that the family name originates from this location 54°11'26.59" N 7°35'09.91" W in Ireland , or it maybe that the location was named for the family .
The geographical term 'dale ' suggests a northern England / southern Scotland origin .

As to a historical clan connection , there may not be one . Consulting the various clan historians /seanachie one by one may yield an answer.
