What clan am I?
Hi - always been wondering this and now that I've found a clan discussion forum maybe I'll find out.
My Grandfather on my mums side was a Duncan, his wife a Scott and their parents were McBrides and Neils on the female sides. My Grandfather on my Dads side was german (saxe-coburg) and his wife spanish but her ancestors were from the Mcallister clan. What does that make me other than a mongrel? Do you take the nearest clan on the male parents side - which would make me a Mcallister or just pick one? Thanks Mac

Your clan
Well usually your clan is determined by your surname, so Yes the name from the male side but if your male side is not Scottish then you can't do that. The others are really to distant, so I suppose you don't have a clan.
Your father's side being German and his wife being Spanish really rules out that side. So I suppose if anything you will have to look at your mother's side the Duncans and the Scotts. The Scotts were a well established Lowland clan but there is some dispute as to weather the Duncans were their own clan or just a sept of the Clan Robertson. If I were you I'd go for the Clan Scott. |
