I do a lot of genealogy, and I've just discovered that one of my ancestors on my dad's side might
have been a Mary Henderson--but I need to do lots more research before I'm sure about that!
But if Henry/Hendry ancestry counts, I have tons of that, lol! In fact two different families intermarried way back (a Jane Henry married a William Henry, so her maiden name and her married name were identical!
) so I can tell you, sorting out all these Henrys can be horribly confusing--esp. since they all seemed to love the same given names! That was so common they even had to be given nicknames to tell them all apart!
One of my Henry/Hendry lines for certain came from the Isle of Arran--the other was definitely Scottish, but their origins are less certain. We think they probably
came from the area around Glencoe, Scotland--that's what family lore says anyway.
Oh, and someone asked if being named Henderson automatically makes one a "clan member"--as far as I know, it does! Altho to join one of the clan societies, you may have to pay dues, but you "belong" simply by the fact of your descent from whatever clan.
