The Royal coat of arms of Scotland is the famous Lion Rampant in red on a gold background, with a fluer de lyone type doubled border, can't remember the technical term. the moto of Scotland is "Nemo Me Impune Lacessit" - "None may strike me with impunity" or in Scots "Wha dar meddle wi' me?".

Do you have an associated clan of your own Eve? Each clan has a coat of arms and a badge as well as the tartan, we could find yours.

Hi david, I didn't know i was realted in any wayto begin with. so i have no idea. I did find out that the name did go bacl to england but that was all i found out. it would be nice to know since my daughter katerina is so wanting to wear the clan colors. it would be nice to gfind out before we go to the games in feb. can you help me find out david. I would have to go and ask the family if they know anything about it, but know ing them probably not. they aren't into it like i am. what would i need to do inorder to find out? This would be so cool. it would make my trip to scotland that much better. any help david would be great. you can email me with any thing you find out or can help me in finding out.

To start with I need your birth surname and your mothers maiden name, also your grandmothers maiden names if you know them, and further back if you know them, no promises but I'll try. If you are clanless there is still hope. Your home city may have a pattern, or other generic ones may be applicable.

Eve, saw your other post. So, you're a Gunn

The Moto "Aut pax aut bellum" apparently means "Either peace or war" not sure of the significance of that or of all the heraldic symbolism. The hand with the sword is fairly obvious!

David, Thanks for the information on our clan. I am also a "son of Fergus" and recently purchased a key chain with our clans crest. I didn't completely understand the picture until I saw your explanation of it. Thanks
