Smile Clan Stewart Question

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: I AM ASKING FOR SOME SINCERE ADVICE, PLEASE.
THE SCOTTISH GAMES ARE COMING UP ON LABOR DAY, IN SEPTEMBER, OF THIS YEAR. I AM SEARCHING TO FIND THE VERY BEST DEAL POSSIBLE FOR STEWART TARTAN AND ALL THE REQUIRED OUTFIT FOR MY SON AND MYSELF, AS WELL AS FOR MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, AND MY BRAND NEW GRANDSON, DRAVEN LEE STEWART, ( WHO WILL BE ALMOST A YEAR OLD AT THAT POINT IN TIME) AND WILL, AT THE TIME, BE ATTENDING HIS VERY-FIRST-OF-MANY SCOTTISH GAMES. I AM NOT TRYING TO BE A CHEAP *******, YOU UNDERSTAND; HOWEVER; I AM NOT A RICH MAN. ALL I CAN SEEM TO LOCATE ARE TARTANS AND GARB SOLD AT EXTREMELY HIGH PRICES, APPARENTLY AS TRAPPINGS FOR TOURISTS AND MONEY-ABUNDANT-BLOW-HARDS. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO ME, SO I AM HUMBLY ASKING FOR SOMEONE TO HELP ME IN MY QUEST. MAY I COUNT ON ANYONE OUT THERE TO HELP ME WITH MY SEARCH? I WOULD DEEPLY APPRECIATE IT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW EVERYTHING THAT IS/WOULD BE CONSIDERED PROPER ATTIRE FOR THIS TYPE OF EVENT, FROM HEAD-TO-FEET. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP...IN ADVANCE.
DANNY BOY

Sorry, but the cost of a 'real' kilt and all accoutrements is really high.
Perhaps you could contact local American companies who make kilts more cheaply - and from those I've seen, aren't wool and use less tartan, so should be cheaper - but I have no knowledge of any such company.

DannyBoy, are you looking at the cost of buying your outfits or just hiring them? Personally (if I am ever foolish enough to wear a kilt a second time) I would go for the latter option... in all honesty, how often do you plan to wear the outfit anyway? Then again you could always go for the Economy Classic Kilt Outfit! ok that web site is showing the prices in pounds, but if you look at the various outfit packages they have it will give you an idea of what you get for your money... tho I still think hiring might be worth considering, especially if you're not a rich man!

Thank you very much for all your advice. That was really helpful and very nice of you. Although, I have to ask..."WHY"...do you say it was your 'first and last time wearing a kilt'?? Was it a miserable experience or something? Let me know, please. I am still going to do it, my son and all of our loving family. I am actually excited about it and looking forward to it. I guess it is each to his own...right?
I was unaware one could actually rent an outfit, although, I realize now, it should be obvious that such a thing would be available...everything else is anyway. Personally, I may not have the money to buy what I want, but I will try. Eventually, I shall succeed. How much money are we talking about here? In US Dollars, that is? I do not understand Euros or most all of the other worldly currency. (Probably never will.) I will be checking out the cheaper places you wrote about, too. Thanks again for the tips.
Well, I hope to hear more from you again soon. Please, feel free to write to me anytime. I'll always write back to you.

Polworth and everyone else...

Polworth, (and everyone else); Hello again. Nice to hear from you again. My very best wishes to you. Hope you and yours are all well and doing fine these days. I have been working like a dog these days. I am driving a tow truck, still, and although I am with a new company, I am still required to put in 7 days a week. I work no less than 10 to 12 hours in a straight shift, sometimes 16 hours, then I am on call for the remainder of the 24. We are not allowed to have any days off. Of course, in my opinion, that is because the boss is a way cheap *******, and so tight with his money, he squeaks whenever he tries to unclench his hand. I have managed to discover a way to get a few days off; however; as of Monday morning, 7:30am, due to extreme wear and tear on my tow truck and the bosses failure to repair it as per my requests...the tilt front end of my Freightliner, caught the wind just right, causing it to slam closed on my right forearm, seriously injuring it. In fact, I was trapped like that, with my right arm caught inside the hood of the truck, from my elbow-to the tips-of-my-fingers, for over 45 minutes, until the firetruck, ambulance and paramedics got there and extracted my arm from it's entrapment. Definitely not something I care to experience a second time! Anyway, now I am about to embark upon worker's compensation indefinitely. My boss, being the true great guy he is, is already talking smack about how I am faking it all for time off of work, and today, he demanded I turn in my cell phone, truck, keys to everything, and gas card, too. Obviously, his sweet way of telling me he doesn't trust me at all! F'em!! His royal treatment of me will only be equally repaid in my own very sweet way, too.
Anyhow...thanks for your response to my inquiry; however; I still plan to locate and fully clothe my wee family for the Scottish Games tis year, despite the expense. As one reply suggested, I suppose I can always rent if I absolutely have to do so. One day, when I am finally rich, instead of so damned good looking, I'll have everything I should want and desire, as I am sure all the world already knows.
Peace, Danny Boy

The answer to that is simple... I always said I would never wear one in the first place... but as people always say, never say never... so on this one occaission I did and while the experience wasn't "miserable", walking around with a ton of wool spun in one of the (too many) recently invented tartans was definitely uncomfortable after a while... so the first chance I got to change back in to a pair of jeans I took... and now I can go back to saying "never" again!
