Dumb Question but here goes
I was wondering how I can find out what clan if any, I might be a member of.
I've traced it to Maldred Fitz Maldred, son of Maldred Dunbar, son of De Mormaer, son of Duncan Lord of Mormaer, Duncan Mac Donachadh, son of Duncan Donachadh, son of Mormaer. Of course the Scottish monarchs are in that line as well. Any help would be great. Jim |

Could you show us exactly how you traced your ancestry back to these people? In a linear descent form from yourself to the first-named? Please don't say you used the LDS records...

That's pretty impressive if you can prove all the connections, sorry if I came across a bit cynical but we deal all the time with folk claiming to be directly descended from William Wallace (who left no recorded heirs) etc... One in particular stands out in my mind as giving the well-known "Hank" Wallace as Wallace's grandson...

I totally understand
I double check dates with all my connections as well as the names, etc.
In fact, in a different line of mine, there's a Farley in England that is supposedly the son of a Fairly of Scotland but the dates are all wrong and in fact, I've found about 20+ other people that have him in their line. I of course wont put him there since the dates dont line up at all. Actually, the connections after Malred are easier to prove then some of the ones before him. |
