I don't think the second option is as relevant as it used to be as it is now based in the US, rather than Scotland!

It would appear there is no clan chief, but a clan chieftain's details are available via rampant scotland.

It is explained in one or both of the above, that Anderson, whilst a common Scottish surname, also has Scandinavian roots.

Indeed - I know of one area in the American Midwest where so many Danish Andersens settled that many of them changed their family names!
