"mispelling"? Scottish surnames are prone to spelling variations, standardization of spelling did not come about until the Victorian era. A lot of Scots immigrated to other countries as early as the 1600's, long before there was any attempt at the standardization of surnames.

Hi,
There is no doubt about spelling mistake between Frazier & Fraser. It is surely know what branch of clan your family may belong . That is not easy one. You have knowledge about the geographic area .There are some how the record also.

A complication for you will be that the gaidhlig origin of 'Fraser' is 'Friseal', pronounced Freeshall.
