My father's a "Middleton" and, as I understand it, Middleton is a proud Scot last name but not a clan. I have a tartan that's supposed to be Middleton..it's red and greeen. Bought in Scotland, but I have been told by a MacKenzie that, even though it bears a lable "Middleton" it is not because there is no tartan for Middleton. Other research has told me that Middleton is a "cept" of the Forbes clan, whatever that means. Don't know who to believe.
Also, for my children, my husband's name is "Vaughan" which I believe to be Welsh, but not sure. Thanks Nancy

Hi Nancy. My grandmother was a Vaughn. She was a Scots-Irish. Don't know about it being a Welsh name. Maybe that's where I get the green eyes. No one else in my family has green eyes, but me. Or maybe........I'm a product of the milkman!
Anyhow, let me know what you find out about Vaughn.

Dear Nancy,
I believe Vaughn in Welsh also. A good site to check on origin of surnames is www.in***ey.com/hall/product.htm
Also check under my site of McWillliams/MacWilliam for more ancestral website links...

Hi Di, I like that site. So, my grandmothers maiden name "Vaughn" was Welsh. Cool. I'll tell my family that's where my green eyes come from, my Welsh roots. I come from a family where my father and older sister's eyes are brown, I mean brown, no color specks. My mother's and other sister's eyes are blue. And here I am with dark green eyes. Or it just might have been that milkman..........................
I'm also thinking my mother was mistaken about her grandfather being Irish. The name Brown is definitely Scots. Unfortunately, she passed away quite a number of years ago. She just said he talked with an accent, she might have thought Irish, hugh, redhair and blue eyes. He was a trapper in Canada. How cool this is!
