Note, this is not true for all clans motos, some are in Ltin, some English, Scots or even Gaelic.

Is there a difference between the clan badge and the clan crest?

Bluegrass, not really, its just that sometimes when people talk about the crest they could mean the whole coat of arms. In theory only the Chief could bear the full crest (coat of arms) but any associated clansman can wear the badge, surrounded by a belt, as its normally depicted.

I tend to talk about "badge" and "coat of arms" rather than crest just to avoid confusion

Eve, its not so urgent now that I know you are a Robinson, the mothers maiden names etc are really only in case people don't have an obvious clan association for their main surname, you've got Gunn though, so that's all you really need.
