Can anyone give any help on more information about it. I have found a lot of information concerning it being a sept of MacBeth. My Grandfather was born 1912 between Glasgow and Edinburgh. He passed away before I was born and now I am trying to find more about me awesome family history and most of the people have passed away that can give me the answeres. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

Hello!
Beattie is another of the names that is considered both Scots and Irish.

I believe it is claimed as a sept by MacBeth, Mackay and MacBain!

If you know the date of your grandfather's death and where he was born in Scotland, then it might be possible for you to do a GRO search. They are not free, but if you marshall enough questions, you can get quite a few 'hits' for your money! General Register Office for Scotland - Contact Us

Good luck with your research
