Question

I'm reserching my family history on my dads' side. I got some information about the Means family. The thing the lady wasn't sure of, was where the family came from. She thought that they came from Scotland where there was a sept of the Menzies clan then onto Northern Ireland and then onto America. She had no written record of them moving to Ireland. I want to know if anyone can help me out. The family I'm serching for left Ireland and came to America in 1718. Some of them move to Bucks County Pennsylvaina about 2 years later. Eventually, some of them moved to North Carolina then onto Shelby County Indiana in about, 1827. Many generations later, my dad was born in Indiana. He was born in Shelby county and spent most of his childhood in Shelbyville Indiana. If anyone could help trace the lineage back from before the Means family came to America, or even if you could help out with after they moved to Shelby Indiana up to my family now.
