Hello eveyone,
My name is Elaine L. (Stidham) Smith, I need to know what color kilt of Scottish descent my great, great, great, great, grandfather John Steedman from Scotland but I was trying to search and I can't find decent family. I ask you that can you help me? If so, please let me know ASAP thanks. Let you read about Steedman's history. John Steedman born in 1715, took part in the war between Scotland and England, and fled Scotland after the Battle of Culloden in 1745. About 1758, John went from Ireland to New York to Charleston, South Carolina. In 1769, John moved to present Fairfield Co., South Carolina. In South Carolina, some of Steedman's children lived near by, and actually intermarried with the family of Zachariah Stidham, a descendant of Timen Stiddem. Because of this close family association, and the confusion and careless intermixing of surnames, many descendants of John Steedman today spell their surnames Stidham, Steadham, Stedham, etc. Although most are not descendants of Timen Stiddem, they are included here to help researchers untangle the mystery of these interwoven Stidham* family surnames. I want to know what about my Stidham Family Tree. Well, I hope you will help and God Bless you, thanks. Elaine __________________
