Question

Hi, I was wondering if there's anyone else here from the Clan MacNeil of Barra or Colonsay (Barra in particular). My great-grandfather traveled over to the highlands of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia (New Scotland) from the Isle of Barra, Scotland.

Hi there from Scotland. I'm not a Macneil but have a nice pic of Castle Kismuil in Barra on my website.

Go to http://www.scotpix.biz and then into the castles section.

And also, my Western Isles section has some other pictures of Barra in gneral. Have you ever been there? Its fantastic.

Colin

My family came from Barra to Ireland to Canada. The name was altered a tad tho to McNeely...Our line settled in Beckwith c 1820
There is a book in print .."The McNeely's of Beckwith"

Saunders/MacAlisdair(MacAlister)/McNeal

My Saunders family was a sept of the MacAlister Clan which, from what I have been told, sort of got assimilated by the McNeals. I would be interested in finding out more about the MacAlisdairs and how the McNeals came to power and what relationship Saunders may have had.
