Wanting to seek information on my clan.
Angus McInnes (Born Inverness approx 1900) emigrated to Australia (Foolish man...) around 1910. Wanting to know if I have any cousins still based in Scotland??? He married an Australian girl from Broken Hill, New South Wales and had two children. Peter and Margaret. Both deceased, Margaret was my mother. I have inherited my granfathers name. Trying to formulate family tree as family here have since deceased and I am last of the clan. Unfortunately too young before I could obtain information and any direction in this regards would be greatly appreciated. Och Aye, Angus McInnes |

McInnes of Broken Hill
Hello,
I'm Brad McInnes, my family is from Broken Hill too. I've just moved to Edinburgh from Adelaide. My Grandfather was Robert McInnes, son of John McInnes who would have moved to Australia around the same time...... Regards, Brad |

Hello HighlanderOne
If you are looking for direct family connections, rather than 'clan' connections - it would be helpful if you had any details about your grand-father's birth place (rather than just Inverness) - this would mean that you could do a GRO search (not a free service, but not too expensive), which would give you access to his birth certificate, and through that you might be able to trace any aunts, uncles etc. Good luck with your search. Here's the URL for the GRO - General Register Office for Scotland - Family Records - Help searching Scottish ancestors There is information on Clan MacInnes at Electric Scotland is a major educational resource on the history of Scotland, the Scots and people of Scottish descent - a site which is owned by a Scot, but operating nowadays from either Canada or the USA.. Make sure you verify info from at least two other sources, as all the info is submitted by members and is not verified by the owners (or so he told me, many moons ago!) Clan MacInnes There is no current clan chief, according to one of the USA MacInnes sites I quickly scanned. Another Scottish based site which is usually quite reliable for info is Rampant Scotland Directory |
