Can I get my twopence worth in as well
My wee bookie says, Their roots were Norman. their ancestor was ALAIN, seneschal of Dol and they settled in Scotland during the reign of David 1st(1124 to 1153). The clan takes its name from the hereditary post of High Steward (as Pol said) which the family held from the 12th century. More info if wanted from my bigger bookie. Marhar (The Wallace)

Re: Dear Polwarth...blah...blah
Polwarth writes:
I'm not AVOIDING anything. And,I have kept to the topic in hand. By the way quote from your last post ".... and the esoteric traditions have been preserved with severe precision." What, precisely, does that mean...? You still live in a house with a mud floor, share your home with livestock, eat porridge every day... that sort of thing? ~~~ normandebrus responds: The pursuits you mention are not esoteric pursuits. ~~~ Polwarth writes: Don't you realise that the 'real' Scots on here are laughing at you? ~~~ normandebrus responds: Since laughing does not qualify as a rebuttal and since it is critical appraisal I am interested in entertaining, none of it has any bearing on my demeanor nor on any serious research (no scientist or historian or what have you has ever included the laughing of nearby 'peers' as evidence of anything). I asked you to stick to the topic and if you had information to the contrary of my assertions to provide it. You have, again, not done that but attempted to ridicule instead. Your sense of superiority is obvious as is your obvious avoidance of PROVIDING RESEARCH TO THE CONTRARY. I am still waiting. Still. Typical. In virtually the same breath that you assert you are avoiding nothing, you avoid much. It does not matter what I think nor, in my opinion, what you think. The readers are drawing their own conclusions. They see. ~~~ Polwarth writes: BTW - I'm female, so your use of the term 'sir' is incorrect. ~~~ normandebrus responds: You have focused on several things but not on providing research to support your views on something you have already admitted to not having been interested in. You respond with emotion but not with credibility. I welcome critical appraisals of my sense of history but you have provided none of that. If anyone would like to provide such, I am interested but I am not interested in bantering for the sake of bantering. Toodles. * |

Dear aNonnyMoose
I would be perfectly 'content' to hear research contradicting this theory. I have been explicity asking to see such for years online and for years, with sickening regularity, I get attacked instead. Please, someone, prove it wrong.
