[quote=wullie m;414920]Used to go to the Highlanders (The Teuchs) in my youth, Fergie MacDonald must have been about sixteen then! QUOTE]

Fergie was (I presume still is) a great box player in the stamp of Bobby (sigh of worship here !) MacLeod. My dad has always rated Fergie highly (and of course Bobby !). We did see Fergie play once in Glasgow. Magic ! I think the band I remember was named after Fergie MacDonald.

On the other hand, my dad couldn't stand Jimmy Blair ! Also, my dad was "West Coast Sound" based (not the Beach Boys or Mamas and Papas) and liked Bobby, Fergie and others who played pipe tunes and Gaelic music. He wasn't so keen on the Eastern style, though appreciating the skill of the good players eg - he liked Ian Powrie and Jim Johnstone, plus Angus Fitchett.
