My last name is Cole. I went on line and did a surname finder. The information cameback that Cole is of Cornish Orgin and is found in Cornwall. But when I looked alittle bit down the page I saw a link to clan connections. It read that the cole family is a direct sept of the MacDougall Clan by blood and marraiage. What does this mean? And does anybody know the history of the Coles in the MacDougall Clan? I have read that Cornwall is hevely Celtic. And I was wondering what the connection to the clan is? I would also like to say that My dads Mothers Maiden name was Gibson which I am told is a full Scotish name and is a member of the Buchannan Clan. I also found out that my dads mothers mom was a White and her family is full Scot and apart of the Lamont Clan. The rest of my family which is my mothers family is Foley(irish), Collins(anglo-saxon), Rife(french), Sprat(anglo-saxon). I really am looking foward one day to travel to Scotland and buying my MacDougall Tartan. If one can give me answers to the questions above it would be appreciated. Thank You
