Question

Does anyone know anything about the Village of Dunnabie in Dumfries (age, history, meaning etc.) It could possibly be the source of my family surname Donabie, also spelt
( Dunabie, Dunaby, and Donaby)

I have heard that the village name was Dunaby Hope in the past, and that the Clan Bell has families in this area.

The village is on the B 7968 road just a little dot on the map between Paddockhole and Kirkleton
