Many years ago I recall a pub in Glebe Street, Glasgow called Broon's. My dad drove us round the streets to show us the pub.
I went off The Broons and Oor Wullie after Dudley Watkins' stories stopped (I think he died) and they modernised it (eg like someone said Fat Boab with a baseball cap).
There was a stage version of Oor Wullie during the 1970's.

I remember my family name. Gow, sometimes got a mention in The Broons and Oor Wullie. Ma and Pa Broon used to dread a visit from
"thae gossipy Gows" 
PS Does anyone recall the "other" unnoficial versions of Oor Wullie back in the 1970's which were photocopied many times and badly drawn copies passed around offices, colleges and schools and was really rude ? I remember one where Oor Wullie shoots Jeemie with an air pistol saying the words
"That'll save me feedin' the greedy wee c*** !" He also later had an encounter with Daphnie - least said the better !
