[quote=jafapete;403431]Hi Gustard, Bron et al.

My grandfather Bannatyne used to wear a Campbell tartan tie when on his pastoral duties as a Presbyterian elder, even though that didn't always get him the warmest reception. Having looked at the history of the Campbells I wish it wasn't so, but the Bannatynes of Bute are a Campbell Sept.

Thanks for the information Peter. If I can invite you & the next person to my ancestry.com site, you can 'pick' your mutual Families here. Since 2004, I have had the privelige, to do my Mother (Bannatyne born Western Australia 1923) Tree. The New Zealanders & the South African Bannatyne's have their Family history all set (probably in muffin mix). Given my Bannatyne's were not military heroes, nor so educated their brains spilled out in NZ or SA.

My Family went to the USA & Canada. I still believe there is a connection with NZ. But my 'cousins' from Blackwaterfoot, Argyll, Scotland will not have any of this nonesense. Oh, well, so be it.
