Well I have to agree with Georgekidd that an American doing a Scottish accent (and they usually can't do one) and trying to convince everyone how Scottish he/she is, is extremely annoying. I had the misfortune of being on a tour with one. It was embarassing and she didn't realize what an arse she was making of herself or how offensive she was being. I stayed as far away from her as possible lest someone (American or Scot) assume I was of some aquaintance. *shiver*retch*

Might I suggest, though, that the next time you hear an American accent, whether handing you money or not, that you listen. Once you've heard a few, mentally compare them. You might not ever like the accent, but you might find some less annoying than others.

You know, we're not all boarish, arrogant, condescending, prigs. I admit there are some who are and I would like to add they are the same way to thier own countrymen, as well. Simply insufferable, sorry excuses for human beings. I'm sure every country has a few, including Scotland. France seems to have a never ending supply.
