I am sceptical but I'd rather be safe than sorry which is why I'm willing to suspend my scepticism and err on the side of caution. There is very little margin for error when you're dealing with people that will stop at nothing to achieve their perverse aims so if there is even a sniff of suspicion that something is being planned I would rather see the Police act upon it. The danger is that you end up provoking Islamophobic hysteria but that is a risk that I think is justified. The one problem I do have is with the alleged interference by the Americans which led to immediate arrests rather than as the Police intended more prolonged surveillance to gather greater evidence. I know there are some people in this country who feel greater loyalty to the US than to their own country but the judicial and legal process in this country takes precedence and the Police should tell the politicians to bugger off if they feel they need more time to create a watertight case that will stand up in court. If a threat is known to be imminent then action must be taken but whether it was in this instance is unclear.
