Celine Dion kicked off her three year residency at Caesars Palace Colosseum showroom last night (March 25th), in typical razzle-dazzle Vegas style.

During the two and half hour performance fans got to witness Celine dance (a rarity), sing in Italian, fly (with strings attached) and even lose her shoes, momentarily, while they chewed on their chicken-in-a-basket.

The flying occured during the 34-year-old's rendition of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, when dressed as a ballerina, Celine floated around the stage before she disappeared high up into the auditorium's rafters.

As for the shoes, the reason Celine came out barefooted to sing the Italian song, Ammore Annascunnuto, was that she lost her footwear while flying through the air on wires. "We had a little problem backstage," the Canadian singer told the audience, "that's what happens when you get high up in the air."

Eventually, one of her dancers managed to find the missing shoes, and Celine continued with a mammoth set list that included hits, My Heart Will Go On, The Power Of Love and evergreen 'Vegas favourite, Fever.

The $100 million show, A New Day, was created and directed by Cirque du Soleil mainman Franco Dragone and runs for three years.
