As one of the biggest literary festivals in the English-speaking world, the Edinburgh International Book Festival has something for everyone. Events during the 17-day festival include readings by renowned authors, book signings and workshops. Authors being featured include Richard Dawkins, William Boyd, Tom Kitchin, Tracy Chevalier, Liam McIlvanney, Valerie Martin, Nicholson Baker, Michael Mansfield, Colum McCann, Alexander McCall Smith, Humphrey Hawkesley and Douglas Coupland.
The Edinburgh International Book Festival is set to take place from 15-31 August 2009 and organizers are confident that it will be better than ever before. Previous events have seen around 800 writers participating in more than 700 events during the festival. The ongoing success of this annual event has been a factor in the city of Edinburgh being dubbed UNESCO City of Literature 2004.
